Police threatened to arrest a mother on child neglect charges for allowing her 10-year-old daughter to cycle unsupervised to and from school on a traffic-filled road.
Teresa Tryon was told by police in Elizabethton, Tennessee that her young daughter Cynthia is not allowed to cycle to and from Harold McCormick Elementary School because the roads have too much traffic.
Police threatened Mrs Tryon with arrest after officers spotted cars swerving to avoid the girl, who was also said to have cycled 'into oncoming traffic'.
